Sweet Summertime

Hello Friends!

Well, tomorrow marks the official celebration weekend of my best friends wedding! I'm soooo excited! It's going to be a great weekend spent with friends and family. We actually started the wedding festivities this past Tuesday when we went to Holiday World for Rachel's Bachelorette party. I know, why Holiday World? Well, because it's fun... DUH! haha. We had a blast... perfect weather until the end of the day. The water was just warm enough and the lines were not bad at all. Tomorrow, we're starting off by going to get our nails and toes done, then going to rehearsal, and then dinner at Dimaggio's! YUM!! Then, the girls and I are going to spend a little time together the end of the night. I guess you can say it will be one last girl's night before the big day! :)

So, what have we been up to? Well, it's summertime... so of course that means absolutely nothing! We have no to-do list these days... so it's just rest and relaxation. Although, I don't think Mommy relaxing is a top priority for Gabe. But that's ok... I sure do love chasing my little man around. He's so much fun to play with! He comes up with new things everyday to make me laugh... there's definitely never a dull moment in this house! I love it!

I can now say that I have successfully lost 10 pounds and kept it off for the past couple of weeks! I'm sooooo happy! I'm really proud of myself for sticking to this diet and working out. I can't wait to get to my goal weight and feel healthier. Actually, I already feel quite a bit healthier. I've been drinking lots and lots of water and trying to eat better as well. I can definitely tell a difference in myself... so I'm waiting to get to that point where others can notice the difference too! The spinning class is definitely working well... I actually look forward to going now! So, next week I am re-joining weight watchers to help me reach my goal weight. I know, I know...why pay for it when you can do it on your own? Well, it's really about the accountability that it provides. I like knowing that I have to weigh in every week... it helps keep me motivated. So, my goal is 15 pounds a month from now until August. I know it's not going to be easy... but I'm so determined. I've been going through some old clothes and I can't wait to fit into them again. I put on a shirt this week that just last month fit just right... and now, it's too big! Nothing like that feeling...definitely helps to keep me motivated as well.

Anyway, Jesse brought home a letter today saying that the company he works for is hosting their annual picnic at Holiday World in August! YAY!! Best part about it... It's FREE! I can't wait to go... hopefully I'll be able to wear my bikini then too. Stick to my goals and I will be able to! :)

Well folks, that's about it for tonight. I got to get up early for spinning class and then it's off to do wedding things with Rachel! Have a great weekend! I'll post pictures on Sunday from our big weekend! :)

1 Fish, 2 Fish!

So, as many of you know, I've been planning Gabriel's FIRST birthday party for several months now. I'm happy to say that in exactly ONE month, we will have the most adorable, fun, exciting Dr. Seuss birthday party...EVER! YAYY!! I can hardly wait! I've been frantically ordering things and researching cute ideas for the big day. It's going to be SO SO SO cute! Yes, I realize that Gabe won't actually remember the day... but he can relive the day through pictures and video!

So far, our big day includes a swimming party at Mama & Papa's house with a bounce house. We have a big banner coming along with tons and tons of decor! The food... oh my gosh, the food is going to be great! And in case you're wondering... yes, it will mainly be based on Dr. Seuss foods. OH MY GOODNESS...and the cake, well the cake will be awesome too...at least Gabe's smash cake. G'ma Kim and I are collaborating to find the cutest cake EVER for my favorite little man.

A few other hints on what to expect for this BIG day: Lots of Dr. Seuss colors, a few fish, Thing 1 & Thing 2 will surely be there, and the Cat-in-the-Hat will obviously be an honored guest.

I know, I know, sooooo amazing. Contain your excitement! haha. I'm so excited... and I've got a few fun things planned for Gabe's actual birthday too. Let's just say...on June 20th, my little man will wake up to a day that he's never had before. It's going to be AWESOME! :)

[p.s. I finally got my last piece of decor for my redecorating in the living room.. I'm hoping to get it all hung up this week. So... HOUSE TOUR will be coming within the next few weeks!]

Have a GREAT one friends!

11 Months Old!

Yesterday, Gabriel Lee was 11 months old!! I can't believe that he will be 1 year old in just one month! Time sure does fly by! He's getting so big and so much more independent! Can we just make time freeze for a moment? Please?

Gabriel Lee,

Daddy & I are so proud of you. You've overcame so many obstacles that the doctors said you would face. You are the highlight of our lives. You make everyday interesting and fun. There is seriously never a dull moment in our household. We love watching you grow and seeing the person that you have become. You are so full of energy and love... and you can turn a bad day into a good day in an instant. You are Mommy's best friend and Daddy's buddy for sure. Some of your favorite toys right now are your standing toys. You especially love your standing toy with the dancing bear. Sometimes you just stand there and stare at him. It's so cute. You are crawling EVERYWHERE! You're a fast one too. Mommy has to keep a close eye on you because you certainly know your way around the house. Sometimes when Daddy is sleeping you will crawl to the bedroom door to try to get to him. You are not a fan of your carseat...but hey, I don't blame you one bit. I would hate that thing too! But in one month, you will move up to your big boy carseat! I think I'm more excited than you will be about this! We went to Florida this past month and you absolutely loved it! You loved the ocean and the pool. You also loved spending time with all of our family. Emeri, your cousin, is one of your best friends. You love to watch her play and you love getting into her things. She's always having to tell you No... especially when you try to eat her sandals! Papa Chico is your favorite. I think Mama is a little jealous. You light up when you see him and just laugh and reach for him. One of your favorite things to do together is taking cart rides and wagon rides. You also love Papa Ray's singing to you as well. You think he's so funny! You have learned to stand and walk several steps while holding onto things...especially the coffee table. One of your new favorite things to do is stand up at the coffee table and throw everything off of it. You hate it when mommy takes things away from you... like paper. But please remember my sweet boy, you can't eat paper... so I'm only looking out for you! You've started saying "DADADADADA" everytime you see your Daddy. Though, I really wanted you to say Momma first, I'm still very excited that you have said your first word. Rylee is your favorite puppy... you just giggle at her all of the time. You also love to take her toys away from her. She just sits there patiently until you are ready to throw them for her again. I'm so glad that she is so good with you. You have also developed a love for solid foods. You get mad if I don't feed you enough or on time. Last night, I made a lot of homemade baby food for you. Today, you tried some and absolutely loved it. You tried strawberries and Kiwi for the first time and thought that they were the greatest! While we were in Florida, we also spent some time with your Granny, Papaw, Aunt Diane, and cousin, Lydia! You absolutely loved them and enjoyed crawling under Granny and Papaw's coffee table. We don't get to see your Papaw Gary and Gma Kim very much, but when you do... You love it! See, my precious boy, you have so many people that love you so much and would do anything for you. You have made our lives so much better in the past 11 months! I look forward to watching you grow up and learn! I can tell already that you are one smart kid.

Love always,

Mommy!

Avengers

No, I never thought I'd say this BUT I LOVED the Avengers Movie. Yes, LOVE! Before I met Jesse, I was never into superheros or their movies. But Jesse is a big fan and needless to say, we've been to the theater to see all of the movies... Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor... all of THEM! haha. I usually fall asleep during the movies and wake up for the end- the best part in my book. I must say, my favorite one has been Thor. Mainly because Chris Hemsworth is gorgeous. :) Anywho, I highly recommend this movie. I loved it so much that I want to go see it AGAIN! I think I surprised Jesse a bit when I told him this.

We went to see the Avengers this past weekend with a few friends. We started the night off with dinner at 17th street, headed to Target to kill the hour that we had before the movie, and then headed to the theater. I will say, by the time the movie started I was TIRED and didn't think I was going to be able to stay awake. However, the movie was sooo good that taking a short little nap didn't even cross my mind again. The thing I liked the best about the movie was that it was action packed. It wasn't one of those movies that would drag on and on and on and have a short 10 minute action scene and then be over. No, the entire movie was filled with action that kept your attention. And the jokes in the movie... Oh my goodness, HILARIOUS!

So, if you're looking for a good movie to see this weekend... I highly suggest going to see this movie. I will say, if you have no idea about any of the characters in the movie, you may want to educate yourself a bit about them first. However, you won't be disappointed when you see this movie! :))

Florida, Mother's Day, and More

Hello Friends!

I can't believe it's been so long since I've blogged. I have been meaning to get an update out there for the past week...but never have. Anywho, here's a quick update on life in the Schiff Household!

A week ago, May 6, Gabriel and I got home from vacation in FLORIDA!! We went with my family for a week of R&R. Jesse couldn't go because of his work schedule... which sucks, but next year he will be there! :) Anyway, we rode with my parents on the 10+ hour drive down there. We left Saturday Morning, drove all the way to Florida, stayed in a hotel that was 30 minutes from our Condo, and then woke up Sunday morning to check in and head to the beach. And in case you're wondering... Yes, a 10 hour car ride with a 10 month old is SO much fun! :) Actually, in all reality, Gabe did pretty great during the drive. I'm so proud of him! But as you can imagine, my little man developed a hatred for his carseat! haha.

Our condo was AMAZING. First floor, ocean view, that walked straight out to the pool. I mean, how convenient and awesome is that? Gabe LOVED the beach and the pool. My little man definitely loves the water. We sat in the sand a few times down by the ocean and let the water wash up on us. It was so much fun and he loved it...except when it splashed him in the face!

During our stay in Florida, Gabe and I also got to see Jesse's side of the family! His Granny, Papaw, Aunt, and Cousin! They came and picked us up and we stayed the night with them. It was so much fun and we were so happy that we got to spend some time with them. It was the first time that both Gabe and I had met his Aunt Diane and Cousin Lydia. We enjoyed a nice lunch with them at a restaurant called "We Got Crabs" on the beach and then headed to their new home to spend some time together. Gabe LOVED it and I think he got a bit spoiled during our stay too! :)

We spent the rest of the week laying by the pool and the beach, shopping, and taking walks. We were also lucky enough that our condo came stocked with baby essentials such as a high chair and pack-n-play! The pack-n-play was so convenient for Gabe while we were all at the beach. We just took it down there with us and let him play in it and take his naps! I loved it and he loved it! :) Our condo was very close to some of the souvenir shops, so I took Gabe on a few walks during the day and we did a little shopping! :) We also enjoyed spending time with our family. Gabe loves his cousin, Emeri! He was always trying to get ahold of her and her things! So CUTE! The one thing I didn't try in Florida was the oysters. Yes, I am the only one in my family who has yet to try them! (I am also the only one in my family who has never been to Vegas....but that's a different story for a different day! haha) Anyway, we had a great time! I'm sad that Jesse missed out on this vacation...but we will have plenty more in the future! :)

Some BIG news that happened while we were in Florida is that Gabe got more teeth in! Can you believe it!? We now have 3 teeth in that precious little mouth...YES, 3!!! He has 2 on the bottom and 1 on the top! There is another one on top that is trying to push it's way through. I'm almost positive that in the next few weeks he will have at least 4 teeth if not more. My little boy is growing up way too fast!

Well, today is Mother's Day! My FIRST Mother's Day in fact! Jesse and Gabe bought me a dozen roses and a very nice card. We then spent the day hanging out at home and then had dinner with my family at my brother's house. It was a great, relaxing day!

Since we got home from Florida, Gabe has started pulling up A LOT more and he's been walking while holding onto the coffee table a lot more too. I never thought this day would come and now that it has... I want it to slow down! He's growing up so fast! I can't believe that in a little over a month he will be ONE! Oh my goodness...where does the time go? Anyway, since he has started to pull up more, Daddy got the task this weekend to lower his mattress in his crib. Why? Well, because Mommy went into his room the other morning when he woke up and found him standing up in his bed, looking over the top, trying to figure out how to escape! And yes, that was the end of the mattress being up. So, I'm happy to say that is mattress is now lowered and Mommy can sleep in peace knowing that he can't escape! :) What else is my favorite little boy doing? Well, he's saying "DADA." Yep, that's right... Not "MOMMA" but "DADA." At first I brushed if off by saying... "Oh, he doesn't know what he's saying... that's just his new sound." But NOPE, I was wrong. I know this because he will literally look at Jesse and say "DADADADADA" Guess who is one proud Daddy? And Guess who is a little jealous? ME! haha. No really, I'm happy that Gabe has said his first word but I realllly wanted it to be "MOMMA." Oh well, I'll let Daddy enjoy this moment...because as you can imagine, he's thrilled!!

Friday, my mom and I went to a spinning class at a new fitness gym here in town. I'm not going to lie... it was intense. Probably one of the best workouts I've had. Seriously! My legs are still hurting tonight and my bottom has hurt as well. However, I think the bottom hurting is a result of sitting on that bike for an hour straight! I don't care what people say...those things are NOT comfy at all!:) So now, mom and I are going every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning to the class. I'm also going to start doing Yoga and Zumba on Tuesday and Thursday's. One of the best parts about this fitness center... free childcare! Yes, free! SO convenient! I love it that I can take Gabe with me, drop him off at the childcare room, and then he is in the same building I am so if he needs me, I'm there. I also like knowing that I can check in on him anytime while I am there! Anyway, I'm serious about this working out thing now. I want to lose more weight and I want to wear a bikini and I want to wear all of the cute clothes hanging in my closet. Oh and I want to lose about 10 pounds by the end of the month as well. I do know it's going to be tough, but I'm determined now more than ever! So, again, it's playoff time for fitness!

Oh, Just a little FYI... I will be doing another HOUSE TOUR very soon. I've been holding off on the house tour since we've moved because I'm doing a little redecorating and I wanted that to be all done. I'm waiting on a few more pieces and then the house tour shall begin!

Alright friends, that's all for tonight. It's time for this Momma  to go to bed. I've got spinning class bright and early in the morning! Here's some pictures of our vaca and Mother's Day! (Some of these pictures were taken by my sister in law, Nicki and our cousin, Lydia! :)) ENJOY!!
